'Tree'
A
series of paintings of a single tree exhibited at the
Glasshouse Gallery, Truro, Cornwall.
November
1st - 30th 2006.
“These
observational and contemplative paintings are of a particular
tree in west
Cornwall
which I first visited over ten years ago. An oak tree formed
by and yet resistant to the wind, the sun, the earth and the
rain - it reflects the principles of the Axis mundi or world
tree, adapting and growing through aspiration with acceptance,
fortitude and yielding, generosity and rigour, the balance
between the heart’s desire and the circumstances needed for realization.
In the gentle evening light, the wild night storm or a moment
of stillness, it dances, merges or stands alone as a guardian
presence in the autumn landscape.”
