new ceramic vessels

The most recent developments of my work involve the use of added materials from the location in Lapland (Finland) where I am developing a project on wilderness. The earliest Pit-combed ware of that area is over 6,000 years old. It was made using very poor tertiary clays and decorated by simple scored markings. I am also using the pit firing technique as well as smoke firing.

In this selection I have made very simple thrown forms which have been treated with coloured terra sigillata or smoke fired. They retain a simplicity as a result.

There are also two forms which are symetrical and smoke fired with inscribed decoration.
