Coaching for Artists.
§
Do
you feel you are at a crossroads in your creative work?
§
Are
you struggling to get started or to progress further?
§
Do
you want to develop your career as an artist?
If the answers to the
above questions are ‘Yes’, you will have have a lot in
common with my Coaching for Artists clients. We have focused
conversations on whatever is meaningful and important to their
creative pathway and together we develop a strategy for their
goals.
What I can do for you?
Providing focus and
encouragement, I help you to clarify and expand your vision of
what is possible. I help you discover and set your own goals,
assess the challenges and work out how far you have come in
your plans, look at new options and different ways of doing
things, and look at the actions you want to take next. You may
be considering some of the following:
-
a new career in art
or creativity
-
new directions in
your existing career in art
-
developing a hobby
further and starting as a professional
-
setting up a studio
-
working on specific
individual/group projects
-
finding a better
balance between work and personal life
-
needing some in depth
tutorials on your work (regardless of discipline)
-
setting professional
goals, such as exhibitions and marketing.
-
planning an
exhibition and needing some outside advice
-
getting a folder of
work together with a c.v., and some samples to show to
galleries
-
investing in your
development through courses
-
weeding out a lot of
older work for a fresh start
-
taking up something
you wanted to go back to
-
what to do after art
college
-
deciding how to
photograph or present your work
-
evaluating what
being creative means to you
-
how to promote your
work to new viewers
Who am I?
My career as an artist has spanned
different creative disciplines, markets and ways of operating.
I am an internationally recognized ceramic artist and
painter with 30 years of making my living from my work. In
1996 I was invited to become an external lecturer at Falmouth
College of Arts and have taught students, including many
mature students of all ages, in ceramics, drawing and
contemporary crafts.
Individual
ceramic artworks are in public collections and museums in Europe and the Far East
and have been recognized through international awards. Many
exhibitions have been held throughout Britain, Europe, U.S.A.,
the
Middle East, Japan, Korea and New Zealand. In 2003 I began to concentrate on landscape
projects in the form of land art and sculpture, some of which
were group projects supported by the Arts Council. I now offer courses
responding to wilderness areas using found materials in the
environment, and as the wilderness is a place of healing too,
this will be used to facilitate creative healing and life
orientation workshops in future.
A career in art can be challenging and I have indeed been
challenged so I'm no stranger to starting out on new
adventures or revaluating what I need to do. The experience of making
a good living from my work is useful to others, and as well as
teaching at college I have helped several artists establish
their own careers, set up their own studios, develop their profile,
photograph their work and
prepare their web pages.
Your commitment
Coaching for
Artists can
be one to one, visits to your studio or by telephone. To make the most of
Coaching for Artists you are required to make a commitment in terms of
time, finances and energy. The free consultation will be
an opportunity to look at your situation and will include
a time to look at how Coaching for Artists can help you. You
may then choose to have a series of 45 minute weekly or
monthly consultations for a period depending on your needs and
circumstances. You might like to follow a structured programme
looking at particular issues with preparation time, or a lead
up to an exhibition in stages. We start by you sending images
of your work as email attachments or through your web site.
Then studio visits and meetings can be arranged.
