New developments of my work
include a range of vessels using added materials from the
location in Lapland (Finland). I am
developing a project on wilderness and
responses to wilderness. The
earliest Pit-combed ware of that area is
over 6,000 years old. It was made using
very poor tertiary clays and decorated
by simple scored markings and fired in a
simple pit.
In this selection I
have made very simple thrown forms which
have been treated with coloured terra sigillata
or smoke fired. They retain a simplicity
as a result.
There are also two
forms which are symmetrical and smoke
fired with inscribed decoration.
